Kamaraj started Elysium Technologies with ₹20,000 after deciding to leave his corporate employment. At the beginning, he worked as a one-person operation and was involved in nearly every part of the business, from technical assignments and training to sales, customer relations and accounts. His interest in electronics developed during his childhood. His father repaired radios and television equipment, exposing him to practical electronics at an early age. For his higher education, he completed a Diploma and a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering through part-time study. He subsequently earned a Master of Science in Information Technology. His professional background includes computer networking work and experience with organisations such as Pioneer Groups and IBM Corporation.
The original Elysium venture gradually developed into a broader group of businesses.
